A new moon happens when the sun and the moon come together at the same degree of a sign. Looking up from Earth, they appear in the same spot. This so-called conjunction sets the tone for the entire lunar cycle ahead.

This time, we step into the earthy realm of Taurus, where value, embodiment, and sensory awareness set the theme for the month. This New Moon teams up with Mercury and Uranus, inviting us to redefine our sense of safety, wealth, and resources, as well as our connection to our body, food, and Mother Earth.

New Moon – Starting Point

Taurus is the fixed earth sign ruled by Venus. It is slow, steady, sensual, and loyal. It reminds us that we are part of nature, not separate from it. So a Taurus New Moon always brings our attention to what we truly value, what makes us feel safe, and how we can ground our dreams into physical reality.

Only this time, the New Moon comes in conjunction with Mercury, the planet of communication and thinking. And Uranus, the higher octave of Mercury, sits at 01° Gemini, in loose but powerful connection to this lunation.

Uranus brings sudden insights, downloads, upgrades, and aha-moments. Mercury processes them in a practical, grounded way. Together, they offer us a fantastic opportunity to manifest new ways with all our senses, to enlighten not only our brain but our very toes, and to fully embody whatever new truth hits us.

At the very same time of the New Moon, in the early morning hours of 17 May, Mars conjuncts Chiron at 28° Aries. Remember how last month was all about healing the masculine by redefining strength? Chiron, the wounded healer, has been wandering through Aries since 2018 and will enter Taurus in June. So when Mars, the ruler of Aries, joins Chiron at the very end of its sign, this is the final stretch of project "heal the warrior."

We are all asked to take off the last remaining pieces of our armour and embrace our vulnerabilities.

True strength comes from allowing softness, from respecting our physical, mental, and emotional limits, and from accepting help. So whatever old wound around assertiveness, anger or pushing through arises, pause, breathe, relax your jaw, and soften into your heart.

On a personal level, the square asks: where have you been following the crowd instead of your own inner authority? Where have you played small because it felt safer? Uranus breaks the rules. The Nodes bring karma. When they square each other, the only way out is to be radically, unapologetically yourself. Even if no one else understands.

Then Venus enters Leo. Love becomes playful, proud, and dramatic. The nurturing of Cancer gives way to the romance and big gestures of Leo. For the next few weeks, ask yourself: what makes my heart roar? Then do more of that.

It begins with a Taurus New Moon conjunct Mercury and anchored by a final Mars-Chiron healing at the end of Aries, and ends with Venus striding into Leo after a tender square to Chiron.
